Day 5: 30/30 challenge

This is just a quick post today since I am pressed for time. Our brother-in-law is being sworn in today as one of two superior court judges for our county. It's a very big deal so we will be leaving shortly to go and watch the proceedings and to support our family.

In the meantime, I have the above two sketches for my work today. The first one is based on an idea I had the other morning. I noticed the moon rising through the trees in our backyard, silhouetted against the mountains beyond. It seemed like a scene with some good shapes. The second sketch is from a thumbnail sketch that I did late last year. It's another take on Lake Alpine. Lots of great shapes there!

OK, hope everyone is off to a good start today. I'll be back tomorrow with more sketches. There should be some actual painting on Wednesday! (Fingers crossed!)

  1. Very important to support family. You must all be so proud. You said, OUR brother in law...not "your" brother in law?
Anyway apart from the family tree I am interested in seeing how verystructured your pattern making is. Will you or will you not, break it up with the broken edges you have been doing with the palette knife???? Cant wait to see.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it! I reply back in an email if you are signed in and I can see your address. Otherwise I will post the reply here under your comment. I tend to cut and paste my emails too so that others can experience the back and forth which I think is integral to blogging.
