It is gesso over cold press wc paper and so I think that gave it that "tweedy" or nubby effect. And the fact that I put the color over the gray pencil caused the color to be more subtle. Lots of variables I think. As for getting a more saturated look for the color, I am not sure that I want to get into solvents and that sort of thing though. Fairly sure:)

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Thank you as always for the visit and comments.
LibbyLibby Fifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13532162740012986996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-61999775568960525122015-12-26T03:26:22.737-08:002015-12-26T03:26:22.737-08:00Debbie,

Thank goodness we have so many tools and combinations of materials from which to choose. I'll keep trying with these crayons and see what else I can do. I have some pastel sticks also (Conte crayons) which I like but am not real sure about the fragility of those drawings. I'll just have to keep at it:)
LibbyLibby Fifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13532162740012986996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-73839044597952414822015-12-25T14:59:18.288-08:002015-12-25T14:59:18.288-08:00I agree with Debbie in the first thing that struck...I agree with Debbie in the first thing that struck me was the unique texture you achieved. The artwork, also, has a distinct subtlety in all of the colors you applied. That appeals to me as well. Adding water to the water-soluble crayon areas would definitely change the intensity and look of things. It's all in what look one prefers and how the materials are handled. Your write-up about the materials was interesting and thorough.Carol Flatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13280091225563623507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-6738952848564296752015-12-24T08:22:59.746-08:002015-12-24T08:22:59.746-08:00Dear Libby I like the texture I see here. I enjoy colored pencils for certain types if art. I do not believe though this exacting medium is for me because I tend to feel more spontaneous with a brush. I love what others do who work in this medium but for some reason I get too rigid for my own taste. Still it is fun to try new materials. Have a blessed Christmas and New Year.
