Truthfully, I didn't have anything concrete in mind except for some design parameters. Carol hit on the work place idea which I find appealing too. I am starting to see that basic geometric shapes can represent all sorts of things, regardless of what I originally intended them to be. Very useful and versatile vocabulary.

Hope all is well. Thanks for the visit.
Libby

Libby Fifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13532162740012986996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-11529207435972473802016-09-28T04:33:04.919-07:002016-09-28T04:33:04.919-07:00Debbie,

I think of it as at the beach - lifeguard warnings - directional help - barriers, beach umbrellas, beach balls and the sun! At the bottom I see symbols that started the flow...the top of two legs and swimsuit! Cant help seeing all that and I enjoyed the experience of seeing the flow come together. I can see what Carol Beth sees, too, but only after I read her comment. Isn't it marvelous what abstract shapes and colors can do? Great piece, Libby!

juliefordoliver.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07186754679744000743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-86619012952981082342016-09-27T12:57:21.368-07:002016-09-27T12:57:21.368-07:00Wow Libby this is a great piece. Factories, machinery, and all sorts of equipment appeal to me visually. Maybe those ideas have crept in somehow? I have consciously included mechanical looking elements in the past. They do sort of lend themselves to geometric formats.

I didn't really have too much direct inspiration for this piece other than the initial layout of colors and shapes. I have been trying to work on both separating and harmonizing spaces on the picture plane. Can they be separate but work together visually? It's probably just something that I can see but that was what I had in mind while making this piece. The colors are the tri color mixes that I have been working with and the title, you may have guessed, comes from a Swing/Big Band song that was playing while I was working. I thought it summed up my state of mind this last week (not!). LOL:)

Thanks as always for the comments and visit. I appreciate it.
LibbyLibby Fifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13532162740012986996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899715599676824140.post-45829482327854365142016-09-25T11:43:10.679-07:002016-09-25T11:43:10.679-07:00My first impression is that this is a place where ...My first impression is that this is a place where work happens, where tools are, and as my imagination carries me away I'm seeing shelves filled with a variety of supplies. The warm pink kind of throws me off, though, because in my imagination this is a man's space! I really miss your words talking about how you got here!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03386488617374144819noreply@blogger.com
