Because I can't get enough of me, the second shot shows my time with one of our distinguished characters here in Calaveras County. Mark Twain supposedly spent some time here and of course, his career was practically launched (and sustained) through the writing of his story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. This statue sits outside one of our local restaurants in Angels Camp.
The third shot is of downtown San Andreas this last Saturday night. I participated in their second annual art walk. This is a view of a portion of Main St. across to the Arts Council building and Historical Society building. The arts building used to be the Odd Fellows Hall. The Historical Society building was once the courthouse and jail. There have been other businesses there since that time but this is what I remember from my discussion with my art buddy Cate, who worked at the Historical Society for 10 years. I am still plugging away on my painting. This will be day 9! I have been videotaping each session. Some of the videos have worked out well and are short enough. Once I am finished with the painting, I will show a series of them. Hopefully the videos will give some insight into how I start a painting, how the painting gets worked, key issues that come up and how they get resolved, and my final thoughts on the outcome of the piece-what worked and what didn't. I am really hoping they will be interesting enough and not just a narcissistic adventure on my part.
OK, off to get started. Today is supposed to be in the mid 100's. I love it here, I do, but you are sort of trapped indoors during the winter AND during the summer. I see why people have a second home in the mountains. Thanks for reading and commenting. Hope everyone has a creative Wednesday.

I dig that photo where you have the people silhouetted against the buildings. It looks hot there. Hot here, too. Whew.
ReplyDeleteMr. Twain seems to have a crush on you!!! You can see the twinkle in his eye. :P
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the sun coming up. You sure get up early.
